THE PERFECT BALANCE

Most S-Log3 LUTs lack the technical details while others lack creative and pleasing looks, only trying to perfectly match the image output from high-end cameras. These LUTs strike the perfect balance between being technically accurate and creatively designed, giving you a natural, pleasing starting point on which to build the rest of your color grade.

SHOOT HOW YOU WANT

Don’t worry about having to learn a completely new exposure technique, just shoot how you feel comfortable. While these LUTs are calibrated to look best when shooting a properly exposed image with skin tones around middle grey, they also work if you prefer to overexpose your footage. We’ve included 2 Pre-LUTs designed to correct for overexposure by 2 and 3 stops which you can apply before the conversion LUT. Plus, if you’re slightly over or under exposed, these LUTs make it easy to get the grade you’re looking for.

FOCUS ON THE FUN STUFF

Forget worrying about how to properly grade or convert your S-Log3 footage. Just apply one of the conversion LUTs and you’re good to go. Whether you plan to export right away or apply a creative look on top, you can be confident knowing that you’re getting the best quality from your camera possible. Plus, all of our other LUTs work perfectly combined with these conversion LUTs.

SONY S-LOG3 to Rec.709

This base LUT is your main starting point. Start with this one and then test the other variations to see what works best with the footage you shot. This will be an all-around workhorse LUT and is compatible with any type of scene whether it’s bright daylight with harsh lighting, moody interiors or dark nighttime.

Sony S-Log3 to Rec.709 +1 and +2 Contrast

These LUTs have a bit more of a punch than the base LUT. These are useful in situations where you may not want to add any creative look on top and are looking for a fast, natural grade that you can easily deliver as-is.

Sony S-Log3 to Rec.709 -1 and -2 Contrast

These LUTs will retain a bit more detail in the highlights and shadows. If your footage is leaning darker or leaning brighter, these LUTs can help keep your highlights or shadows from getting too harsh.

SONY S-LOG3 to Rec.709 Warm

Great for golden hour or any scene that you want to add some warmth. It’s also useful if the white balance happens to be a bit on the cool side and you want to compensate it and bring it back to a more neutral base. The warmth also compliments skin tones and makes them pop a bit more.

SONY S-LOG3 to Rec.709 Cold

This LUT cools down your white balance and can be useful on indoor scenes shot with tungsten lighting that can tend to be too warm and harsh. You can also use it to intensify cold scenes such as snow or anything that needs to look nice and clean.

Pre-LUT -2 Stops

Corrects footage shot 2 stops overexposed (ETTR - exposed to the right). Some filmmakers prefer this shooting method to avoid noise in the shadows.

Pre-LUT -3 Stops

Corrects footage shot 3 stops overexposed, either from a creative or technical decision or some reason out of control.

Pre-LUT Cool

Applied before the base conversion LUT, this Pre-LUT cools down the footage to correct for the white balance being slightly too warm.

Pre-LUT Warm

Applied before the base conversion LUT, this Pre-LUT warms up the footage to correct for the white balance being slightly too cool.

Pre-LUT More Contrast

Increases the contrast of the footage before the main conversion LUT, resulting in higher contrast footage but maintaining the same highlight and shadow roll off of the LUT.

Pre-LUT Shadow Detail

Increases shadow detail before the main conversion LUT, resulting in slightly brighter shadows but retaining the original black point.

Pre-LUT Wide DR

This Pre-LUT increases detail in the highlights and shadows, resulting in an image that has slightly wider dynamic range and detail in the extreme highlights and shadows.

Creative LUT - Acros

Filmic tone curve with cooler highlights, blueish greens, and bright skin tones.

Creative LUT - Boost

Similar to the base conversion LUT, this LUT boosts the saturation in a pleasing way to give the footage a bit more life.

Creative LUT - Booth

A timeless cinematic look, this LUT has warm highlights, purple-ish shadows, lively skin tones and warm greens. Creates rich tones and a pleasing highlight roll off.

Creative LUT - Calico

A clean, warm look with warm greens and accurate skin tones.

Creative LUT - Cine

This LUT is a modern take on the classic teal and orange look. Cool, teal-ish shadows, warm highlights, saturated skin tones creates a pleasing color contrast.

Creative LUT - D55

The base conversion LUT with a D55 white point, creating an overall warmth that pushes the colors more in the northwest quadrant of the vectorscope.

Creative LUT - Dust

A lower contrast look featuring dusty, brown-ish shadows offset by cool blue highlights. Creates a vintage look with a bit more grit.

Creative LUT - Ektar

A filmic look emulating the colors and tone of Kodak Ektar film. Cool shadows, warm and vibrant skin tones, warm green tones. A beautiful 35mm film emulation.

Creative LUT - Everyday

This LUT is one of our go-to looks for footage from any project. Creates a subtle yet pleasing color contrast on your footage, smoothes skin tones and gives a nice polished look that’s not overpowering.

Creative LUT - Liminal

Dark, cool, moody, desaturated look that works great with nighttime footage or projects that require a more stylized tone.

Creative LUT - Luminous

Creates a luminosity in skin tones offset by cool shadows and yellow-ish greens. A slightly teal and orange look.

Creative LUT - Minimalist

Very desaturated look great for tech b-roll, futuristic or tonally muted grades.

Dream-like colors with very smooth highlight roll off.

Creative LUT - Portra

Another 35mm film emulation, inspired by the colors and tone curve of Kodak Portra series film. Features higher contrast, deep shadows, and slightly desaturated highlights.

Similar to the base conversion LUT with slightly warmer and more saturated colors but retaining the same luminance.

A cool, slightly desatured look with clean skin tones. Has a bit more contrast than the base look but creates a more serious tone.

A fun, bright, warm and saturated look. Skin tones are warm and push slightly red into the shadows. Inspired by modern 35mm film.
